Real Player: Download Video

Download a Video using Real Player 11

Now, we are going to show you another powerful way of downloading almost all type of videos in the Web. Not by using Keepvid, Downloadhelper or Safari browser. It is by using Real Player 11.

From RealNetworks:
RealPlayer 11 gives you the ability to download videos from thousands of Web sites with just one click.

Here are the brief steps:
  1. Open your Real Player 11. Download it here if you haven't done so.
  2. Go the the Menu bar, and select Tools -- Preference. a
  3. Under Download and Recording tab in the left, check the Enable Web Downloading and Recording and set the folder where the downloaded videos are saved. a
  4. When you open a page where a video is playing, you will see the small rectangle for you to click for downloading. a
  5. Then the RealPlayer Download and Recording Manger will appear. a
Out of those I have reviewed regarding ways of downloading a video, this method is my favorite as downloading now is a matter of a click. Simple, yet powerful.

Hope this helps.

Download a ' Difficult' Video using SAFARI

I guess most of you are masters in downloading a youtube-like video, be it from Youtube, Google Video, Metacafe, or the like. To do this, you can either use several ways like using DowloadHelper, Real Player or Keepvid.com (these three are my favorites)

However, there are times when videos become 'difficult'. What do I mean by this? There are certain videos that are inside a member area and open in a new-separated window. Therefore, to download this type of videos, you need a more powerful downloading method. And this answer is here: SAFARI.

To get you started, here is my video uploaded in Metacafe.com. Enjoy.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Open the page (using Safari of course) with the video you wish to download.
  2. Open the Activity Window, by pressing Ctrl+Alt+A (windows) or Option+A (mac) or Go to Windows on the Menu bar -- Activity, and look at the items on the activity window.
  3. Look for the page you want to download the video from. Tips: Fewer tabs you open, easier for you to find the video.
  4. Double click while pressing Crtl or Option button to download.
  5. Save to download, and rename you file (for example, get_video.flv)
Bear in mind all the extensions, mp3 -- for songs, swf and flv -- flash video, gif, png and jpg -- images, etc.

Tips: As the fewer tabs mean fewer item in the activity window to choose from, try to minimize your open tabs.

Here are some screen shots to give you better ideas.

Hope this helps.

Media Player Classic: Subtitle

Setting Up Subtitle in Media Player Classic

A normal way to play a subtitle when you are playing a movie is to download the .srt (or other subtitle extensions) files and place the file in the same folder as the movie. Using Media Player Classic, you don't have to do this!!

So long you are online, you can download the subtitle right away from the Menu bar. So this will save you the time to download (and that little bit space in your movie folder). What you need to do is to set the Options Menu and this article is all about that.

If you don't see the flash video below in 10 seconds (I have limited bandwidth), you can click here (I uploaded the video in Metacafe.com).

These are the simple steps to follow:
  1. Open Media Player Classic (tips: if you don't have it, download here)
  2. Go to View -- Options (tips: Or just press 'O' - keyboard shortcut for Options)
  3. Go to Output, choose either VMR7 or VMR9
  4. Go to Database, type http://www.opensubtitles.org/isdb
  5. Done
